Speed Baccarat — Aligning Design and Development Through Interactive Prototyping

Context

This project’s ambitious goal was to define the direction for the next generation of games within the company.

It was a highly collaborative effort, involving close work between design, development, and stakeholders from early concept stages through to delivery. Within the team, I was responsible for designing and prototyping micro-interactions and gameplay animations, helping bring the experience to life and make it easier to communicate and validate.

Design Process

I started by benchmarking competitors in the Asian live casino market to understand common interaction patterns and player expectations.

Working closely with designers and stakeholders, I contributed to defining the visual and interaction direction of the game. I designed key UI components using an atomic approach and collaborated on building a consistent GUI kit to support scalability.

As the project evolved, I focused on translating gameplay concepts into clear, structured flows through storyboards and design documentation, helping align the team and reduce ambiguity during development.

What started as a set of micro-animations quickly evolved into designing the full game flow. The main challenge was turning isolated interactions into a cohesive, dynamic experience that felt smooth and intuitive for players. To address this, I took ownership of prototyping the entire gameplay experience. I mapped out the full game flow through detailed storyboards and built a library of reusable animated components to ensure consistency across interactions.

This approach not only improved the quality and coherence of the experience but also made it easier for developers and stakeholders to understand how the game should behave before implementation.

Results

The result was a fully interactive prototype of the game round — from the end of one round through betting, interaction, and final results.

The prototype was used to clearly communicate gameplay logic, interactions, and animations, helping align the team and support development with a shared understanding of the experience.

Bonus: Chat Animations

Designing the chat feature came with a key challenge: enabling player interaction without disrupting the fast-paced betting flow.

Working closely with the design team, we explored ways to integrate chat in a way that felt engaging but non-intrusive. The final solution was based on progressive interaction, where chat functionality adapts to different stages of the game.

During the betting phase, players can only send quick reactions to avoid interrupting decision-making. Once the dealing stage begins, more advanced options become available — allowing users to expand the chat, customise stickers, or send predefined messages.

This approach helped balance engagement with usability, ensuring the feature enhanced the experience without adding friction to core gameplay.
